MASS INTENTIONS
_________________________________________________________
Fact of Life: According to U.S. Gallup Pool on abortion younger Americans are currently more strongly pro life than middle aged Americans. _________________________________________________________
St Martin’s PRAYER FOR PEACE is held every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in church. Please consider coming to pray for our country, for peace in the world and for our brave soldiers in Iraq and around the world. All are welcome. _________________________________________________________
17th Sunday in Ordinary Time: One of Jesus’ disciples asks Him to teach them to pray. And Jesus responds by sharing the Lord's Prayer with them. Then Jesus completes his lesson prayer by telling two parables. The first urges us to persist in prayer. The second reminds us that we do not always pray for the right things. God knows best how our prayers should be answered. The Lord is ever ready to give us not only what we need, but more than we can expect. He gives freely of his Holy Spirit. We learn that the greatest gift God can give us is the Holy Spirit that we may share in his life and joy. Like a child, we only need to stretch out our arms and be open to receive this gift.
Prayer Moment: Heavenly Father, may I never doubt your love nor hesitate to seek you out with confidence in order to obtain the gifts, graces, and daily provision I need to live as your disciple and child.
A Vocation View: “Ask and you shall receive; seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you.” Believe and act on Jesus’ promise. Pray for wisdom to discern God’ will.
Thanks to all who continue to donate to the “Preserving Our Treasures”. St. Martin of Tours has received $43,806.30 of the $67,650.00 for the painting of the windows and repairing of the bells. Your generosity is very much appreciated. _________________________________________________________
PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SICK OF OUR PARISH: Remember in your prayers those who are in nursing homes, sick at home, and all who have received prayer blankets. In April, 2003, new national hospital-patient privacy laws were enacted. Therefore, many hospitals will not notify St. Martin's of your admission. If you would like someone from St. Martin's to visit you in the hospital, please call the parish office to notify us. If you know of anyone who can benefit from a Prayer Blanket, to remind them that the people of St. Martins are praying for their physical, mental and spiritual health, please call the parish office. _________________________________________________________
The following parishioners have entered Eternal Life Please remember them in your prayers. Anna Schneider, beloved wife of Charles F. Schneider, loving mother of Charles, William, Joseph, Richard, Thomas Schneider and Mary Ann DiStasi. Rose Kremer, dear mother of Jerry, Paul, George, Christine Kremer, Sandy Halm and the late Carol Stenger. Thomas Dahle, beloved husband of Jane Taphorn Dahle. _________________________________________________________
Recent Baptism: Aubrey Katherine Blanton, daughter of Christopher and Lauren. _________________________________________________________
Upcoming Wedding: Maria Schott and Scott Lehn will be married on Saturday, July 31 at St. Martin of Tours Church. _________________________________________________________
FROM THE PASTOR
Catholic Ministries Appeal: At the end of June, the Catholic Ministries Appeal for 2010 concluded. Here at St. Martin, we contributed $20,100.85 which was 90% of our goal of $22,211.00. Our contributions will help to ensure that the Archdiocese will be able to fully fund the six ministries that the appeal provides for, namely the education of Seminarians and Lay Ministers, Catholic Charities, the Retirement Fund for Diocesan Priests, Campus Ministry for our local colleges, St. Rita School for the Deaf and Chaplaincy services for area hospitals and prisons. Many, many thanks to all who participated in this important appeal.

Family Corner Marriage Moment
“Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing." (Luke 23:34)Maybe you need to ask forgiveness from your spouse; maybe you need to offer it. If there's nothing recent to forgive, forgive someone that you've been holding a grudge against. You'll be more pleasant to be around.
Parenting Pointer
"Who is getting more pleasure from this rocking, the baby or me?" (Nancy Thayer) Don't have a baby or child to rock anymore? Neighbors, hospitals, and stressed out single parents may provide an opportunity for you to rock.

Option for the Poor and Vulnerable Let justice pour down like water that the poor will hear the good news…Then the righteous will answer him. “Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you? And the King will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” (Mt 25:37-40) _________________________________________________________
RCIA INQUIRY: Have you ever considered becoming part of the Catholic Church? Do you know someone who has questions about the Catholic Faith? The Church provides the process of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) to assist persons wanting to become Catholic. Here at St. Martin, we have an “ongoing process”. A person may begin at any time during the year. If you would like more information or would like to begin the process, please call Marti at 661-2000. We look forward to hearing from you!
The Catholic Church welcomes children into our faith using the same model as the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. RCIA for children begins around age 7. It serves children who were baptized Catholic, but have little or no religious education, children who have not been baptized, or baptized in another faith and want to become Catholic. RCIA for children will begin in late August on Monday evenings. These sessions are age appropriate, fun and engaging activities and lessons in formation of the Catholic faith. Please call Laurie at 661-2000. We are looking forward to hearing from you! _________________________________________________________

No special training or education is required. Your willingness to share your faith is the only prerequisite! Please call Marti Barnes, our Pastoral Associate, at 661-2000 for more information _________________________________________________________
